Laminating
Wrapping the board in fiberglass and resin
Overview
Laminating is where the board gets its skin. You drape fiberglass cloth over the foam and saturate it with catalysed resin, creating a strong composite shell.
Detailed Steps
1
Cut the cloth
Cut fiberglass to size with overlap on all edges.
2
Mix the resin
Catalyse your resin — timing is everything.
3
Wet out the deck
Saturate the cloth evenly, working air bubbles out.
4
Lap the rails
Wrap the cloth around the rails for a clean finish.

Expert Tips
“Work quickly and stay calm — resin waits for no one.”
“Use a squeegee to remove excess resin. Lighter is stronger.”
“Laminate the bottom first, then the deck.”
