Our Mission
Why we exist and where we're going.
IWBBA is a women-first space for learning the art and craft of surfboard building. A place to learn freely, make mistakes openly, and never have to prove you belong — the only thing that matters is that you show up.
Diversity
Not everyone has felt welcome in surfing. We're here to change that. IWBBA celebrates women of every background, culture, identity, and story. We stand with First Nations communities, the LGBTQ+ community, and every community the surf world has overlooked.
The Next Generation
We want the next generation of girls to see shaping as a real career path — not a closed door. If a grommet somewhere in the world types “how do I build a surfboard” into her phone, we want IWBBA to be the community she finds and embraces — and her opportunity to never be bound by where she's from or what she can afford.
The Bigger Vision
We want permanent shaping camps on every inhabited continent. We want a girl anywhere in the world to be able to find a shaping bay and learn. Surfing belongs to the ocean — and the ocean belongs to everyone.
We can't do this alone — and we don't want to. Through strategic partnerships, we're building the infrastructure to make this happen.
